Kumkumadi for Nasya
As Nasya, it balances Vata-Pitta Dosha. It has a cooling action on the body and pacifies Pitta. Acharya Vagbhata has indicated Kumkumadi Taila Nasya for Kshudra Roga. Nasya Karma or Nasal therapy is the administration of medicine through the nose. It is a Shodhan process that eliminates the vitiated Dosh.
How to take Nasya
- Use two drops in each nostril and one drop in the belly button.
Uses of Kumkumadi Tailam
- Take just 3-5 drops of the oil into your hands, and apply a light coat of it evenly onto the face or to the acne area. Do a gentle massage with your fingers. Leave it for 10 – 20 minutes and wash off with hot water.
- If you are applying a thin layer of kumkumadi tailam then you can leave it overnight without washing.
- Use Kumkumadi oil for face-steaming and vaporization by adding 5-10 drops to water, boiling it, and directing the steam onto your face for 5-10 minutes.
- If you apply just 1-2 drops over your face, you can leave it on without washing off.
- After using it, you can use soap and water to wash it off.
- Massage with this oil to clean the facial skin pores, and then steam therapy would open and clean the pores.
- This oil serves as a sunscreen when applied in a thin layer.
- It complements face packs like turmeric face packs.
- Applying Kumkumadi face oil on the lips can help restore their natural color.
Kumkumadi for Babies
This oil can be used only after the baby is 6 weeks old. While applying it, You need to dilute 10 ml of Kumkumadi to 200 ml of Sesame oil.
Note
Before applying, take 2 drops apply them over the arm, and watch for the development of any allergic skin rashes. If there are no rashes, only use this mix for baby massage.
For under-eye circles (Dark Circles)
Kumkumadi oil is also useful in circles under the eyes. Take a few drops of the oil onto the fingertips of the index and middle fingers and apply gently beneath the eyes over the circles. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash off with plain water. Do this once or twice a day.
Usage For under-eye circles
Take 5 drops of the oil onto your thumb. Gently rub over the circle area, 2 minutes each, in moon-shaped movements, below the eyes.
Do this for both eyes. Wash off with hot water and soap.
Do this 2 times a day.
Discolored Arm Pits – apply a few drops of Kumkumadi Tailam (Nasya Oil) with gentle massage, 30 minutes before bath.
Note
People of any age group can use Kumkumadi Tailam (Nasya Oil).
People with oily skin type should use it in small quantities, not more than once a day.
If you have naturally oily skin, applying an excess of this oil can lead to increased oiliness and acne. Hence, it is best to use this oil in small quantities.
In the case of oily skin associated with open skin pores, it may worsen the condition, especially during winter. Seek your doctor’s advice.
Kumkumadi Tailam (Nasya Oil) is better to test this oil over a small skin area before starting to use it. If you develop any rash/burning/itching sensation, avoid using it.
People with sensitive skin may experience allergic skin rashes when exposed to it.
