Panchagavya Ghrita
Panchagavya Ghee (ghrita) is an Ayurvedic medicine, in herbal Ghrita form. This medicine has ghee as its base. It is used for preparatory procedures for Panchakarma and also as medicine. Panchagavya refers to five different components of cow products.

Anciently preparing Panchagavya Ghrita provides benefits for overall health, brain development, lungs, and immunity. Useful in the treatment of Snoring, Hairfall, Sinus, and Migraine. Putting two drops of Panchgavya Ghrita in each nostril and one drop on the bailey button daily is a traditional way of keeping healthy.
What is Panchagavya
Panchagavya, composed of five elements derived from cows (milk, urine, dung, ghee, and curd), holds a significant place in Ayurveda and traditional Indian medicinal practices. This combination is known for its irreplaceable medicinal properties and is integral to a treatment system called ‘Cowpathy’.
Components of Panchgavya:
- Gir Cow Milk: Rich in nutrients, it is used to nourish and balance the body.
- Desi Cow Gomutra: Known for its detoxifying properties, it is used in various treatments.
- Goras (Dung): Used for its antimicrobial properties and in traditional fertilizers.
- Bilona Ghee: Clarified butter known for its digestive and therapeutic benefits.
- Curd: Fermented milk product that supports gut health and digestion.

Panchagavya Ghee benefits
Panchgavya therapy is recommended for a variety of diseases. These include asthma, flu, and allergies. Additionally, it may be used to treat cardiovascular diseases, renal disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, and skin conditions like leucoderma. Finally, it has applications for wound healing, leucorrhea, hepatitis, gastrointestinal problems, obesity, tuberculosis, ulcers, chemical intoxication, and other infections. The therapy has also demonstrated its therapeutic potential against severe pathological conditions like cancer, AIDS, and diabetes

Panchagavya Ghrita Uses
As medicine quarter to half teaspoon with water, usually before food, once or twice a day, or as directed by an Ayurvedic doctor. Give a 3-year-old up to 5 grams on an empty stomach. For the Panchakarma preparation Snehana procedure, the dose depends on the disease status and the judgment of the Ayurvedic doctor. Warm water is usually used for administering this.
Panchagavya Ghrutham for body cleanse
- Take up to 10 ml of this ghee on an empty stomach each morning.
- Afterward, drink a cup of hot water.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before having anything else (tea, coffee, or breakfast).
- Follow this routine for 10 days.
- Stop it after 10 days.
- Avoid excess intake of wine and non-vegetarian food.
With Allopathy Medicines
With allopathy medicines seek your doctor’s advice if you are taking this product along with other allopathy medicines. Some Ayurvedic herbs can interact with modern medicine. If a physician prescribes both Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines, take the allopathic medicine first. Wait for 30 minutes, and then take the Ayurvedic medicine (or follow your physician’s specific instructions). However, if you are taking more than one product per day, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
Pregnancy, lactation, and children
Seek medical advice for its usage during pregnancy. For treating anemia and jaundice (Panduroga), Panchagavya Ghrit is employed in Snehakarma operation treatment. This treatment precedes the administration of Vamana and Virechana therapies.
Panchagavya Ghrit Side Effects
There are no known side effects with this medicine. However, it is best to use this product under medical supervision. People should not self-medicate with this medicine. People with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and high BP should exercise precautions. In very high doses, it may cause diarrhea and indigestion.
